Knife Edge with whisps of clouds over the top.
Photo taken by Jaye Lauder 07/27/02

I wanted to share with you and the people visiting your website a great moment we had this winter on Baxter peak. This is a panoramic I made out of 4 standard pictures that shows 5 members of our party that made the summit of Baxter peak with the Knife edge in the backgroud.
This picture was taken at about 11:30, Saturday February 28.

Hey Woody:
02/4/2006 We made it to the summit of Katahdin and even managed to hit Hamlin because the weather cooperated for a few hours. The mountain had been in condition red for the prior three days. The ranger, Rob Tice, gave a reluctant yellow flag because the weather was low visibility with undetermined weather patterns throughout the day. Just as we hit the top of the Saddle Trail, the clouds went away so we could go to the summit and hit Hamlin too. It was divine intervention. After we got back down to Chimney Pond, the weather came in and the mountain went red again. It rained all day on the trek out and we had to hike out in crampons or snowshoes. Here are some pictures of our lucky day and afternoon.
Cheers. Jorge Paz
